I really appreciate a lot of Adam Ford’s comics. Myself being an (nowadays somewhat inactive) comic drawer, I love the medium and I think Adam’s message is Gospel-centered, radical and thought-provoking. I don’t agree with everything, he is clearly Calvinist, but I love his zeal for truth and taking Jesus seriously. Now here are some comics!

...let us not come with any patronizing nonsense about his being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to. -CS Lewis

These two phrases can be used interchangeably

For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us. -Romans 8:18

If there is no judgment, there is no need for the cross

srsly can't believe god wrote a whole book about me wow

Literally

Love your neighbor as yourself?

    Let’s see… Comic one:
Yes, it actually is an option to believe Jesus was just “a great human teacher”. It is very possible to believe someone has some good ideas (such as all the “love thy neighbor”-stuff in the case of Jesus) but was wrong about other stuff, alternatively lied about other stuff (such as all the “love me or you’ll go to hell”-stuff in the case of Jesus). See, human beings have this weird attribute of not just being good or just being evil, and not just being right or just being wrong, or just being sane, or just being loonies. Funny thing right? That’s why a lot of people who we’d consider assholes or loonies for some ideas today, like Sokrates and Marcus Aurelius, are considered great human teachers today, thanks to the parts of their teachings that actually were good. Besides that, Jesus could also have been misquoted in the writings about him (much like said other great human teachers). The trilemma is false.

    Comic two:
Yes! If you dare challenge the status quo in the teachings in your ideology (like Jesus did) you are a heretic, and you’re evidently wrong!

    Comic three:
You’re acting as though heaven actually exists. And that it’s obvious.

    Comic four:
And the point is that since Jesus’ death couldn’t possibly have been just as pointless as all the other deaths of history, he couldn’t have been wrong?

    Comic five:
Yes you’re right! Instead of cherry picking, you should acknowledge that the bible is also full of horrible, unethical stuff like genocide, homophobia, etc, lots of unscientific stuff like young earth creationism and lots of contradictions like people turning 180 years old after God limited the life span of all humans to 120 years! Once this has been acknowledged, one can deduce that the bible is a book like all others, and can contain both good stuff and bad stuff, and one can choose to only embrace the good stuff with a clear conciense without being inconsequent.

    Comic six:
See comment on comic five and one, my thoughts here are not all that different.

    Comic seven:
I agree with the general message, although I do it without the need of a God to justify it.

Needless to say, I fail to spot any cleverness in either of these comics. Some of them seem to lack any reasoning behind them what so ever.
